Chelsea Pitvorec joined The University of New Mexico in 2016 and currently serves as the primary contact for men’s basketball as well as men’s and women’s golf. During her tenure at UNM, she has also served as the contact for men’s soccer, women’s basketball and softball.

With Lobo basketball, she handles all facets of public relations and communications for the most popular team in the state of New Mexico, and the program that garners the most national attention media-wise as well.  She coordinates all media opportunities and interviews with local and national media, works closely with national broadcasters for live telecasts, and she works with UNM marketing in handling all social media accounts.

Prior to her time at UNM, Pitvorec spent two years at Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts, where she handled publicity for 11 programs out of the 24 offered.  She served as a secondary contact for the other 13 sports, including football.  With the Greyhounds, she also directed a marketing team of six interns and four full-time staff members, and she handled video and graphics.

Prior to Division II Assumption, she spent two seasons as a graduate assistant with Central Connecticut State University, earning a master’s in communication.  There she served as the primary media relations contact for seven of the Division I teams including softball, women’s soccer, women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s cross country and men’s and women’s track and field.

Pitvorec has presented at the 2015 ECAC-SIDA Convention in Falmouth, Mass. and at the 2016 ECAC-SIDA Convention in Lancaster, Pa. as part of the workshop’s StatCrew panels. In 2016, she also hosted her own panel titled Photoshop 101, which served as a Photoshop course aimed at teaching tips and techniques of the program.

In addition to her extensive work in collegiate athletics, Pitvorec has also served in several capacities on a volunteer basis. Some of these include working with President Obama’s media staff during his appearance at CCSU in 2014 as well as assisting in the Blue Level press box and press conference at Gillette Stadium during the 2016 Copa America Centenario.

Pitvorec has also spent time at Ohio University and she has worked in the private sector for the Escambia County Public Relations Office and with Comedy Central/Spike TV.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts/Public Relations from the University of West Florida, graduating cum laude from the University Honors Program in May 2010. Additionally, Pitvorec graduated summa cum laude with her Master of Science degree from CCSU in May 2014. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Sport Administration from UNM and lives in Albuquerque with her wife Shannon and their son Barrett.
