Freshman Alexandra Moisand is one of two New Mexico freshmen who likely will be thrown into tournament fire from the get-go this spring.

In part, because Moisand has a whole lot of talent but also because the six-person roster Coach Jill Trujillo carries into the 2014-15 season leaves a lot of opportunity to make the travel roster. Tournament play at the collegiate level calls for a five-person team.

Moisand experienced a few freshman ups and downs in the fall, but had nine cards in the 70s and twice brought home an 18-hole score of 74. Her best tournament was the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire where Moisand went 75-80-74=229.

Moisand had a first-round average of 76.20 in five fall events and a final-round average of 77.80.

Moisand comes to UNM with club and junior experience.  She was a member of a French team (Vieille-Toulouse) that lost in the finals of the French Ladies Team Championships.

“Alex has a very solid and mature game for her age,” said Coach Jill Trujillo. “I expect a lot of low scores from her this season and obviously she will be called upon early to help us. She is a competitor and watching her play, you don’t get the feeling you are watching a freshman.”

Moisand says two of her favorite things to do are listening to music and hanging out with her friends. Her favorite athlete is French soccer player Antoine Griezmann. One of her favorite movies is “Invictus” and she loves pasta. She was born Sept. 14, 1997 in Toulouse, France.  Her parents are Valerie and Francois Moisand.
