Jennifer McKibben

Jennifer McKibben joined the Lobo softball staff as a volunteer assistant in the fall of 2013. She will work with Lobo catchers, throw BP during practices and assist in other capacities as needed.

McKibben comes to UNM after having spent the last eight years as an assistant under Patti Townswend at Tallahassee Community College where she helped guide the Eagles to six appearances in the NJCAA Region 8B/FCSAA Gulf Distrcit Tournament, caputring titles in 2008 and 2011.

In addition to serving as the recruiting and summer camp coordinator, McKibben mentored Tallahassee’s picthers, catchers and infielders and produced 50 All-Panhandle Conference players.

McKibben played college softball first at Tallahassee and then at Virginia Tech. While with the Eagles, she earned several accolades: First-team All-Panhandle Conference, All-FCSAA, All-Region, FCSAA All-Tournament and third team NFCA All-America.

McKibben continued to flourish while playing at Virginia Tech unders Scot Thomas. She was named First-team All-Atlantic 10 twice and also earend the Hokies’ Defense Player of the Year in 1997 and the team’s Most Valuable Player in 1998. Her name still stands in the Virginia Tech record books. In addition to sharing the record for most home runs in a game (2), she finished her career among the Hokies’ all-time leaders in batting average (5th, .332) and on base percentage (8th, .392).

McKibben began coaching softball in 1999, starting at the high school level. She has been a member of camp staffs at the University of Florida, Florida State University, Virginia Tech and the University of Texas-El Paso. She has also been a featured coach at Triple Crown Sports All-American games, both in Florida and Colorado.
