Mateja Robnik Season 2012-13

Junior (2014): Fantastic second season with New Mexico culminated in a Second Team All-America honor and Second Team All-RMISA honors as well … competed 25 of 27 runs on the season … completed 12 races, finishing in the top 10 in 11 of them … opened the season with a tie for ninth in the slalom and a fifth place finish in the giant slalom at the Pat Miller Invitational … had a podium finish in Utah at the RMISA qualifier, finishing third … finished fourth at the Montana State Invitational slalom and fifth at the Colorado/Spencer Nelson Invitational giant slalom, and then won the RMISA qualifier there the next day … finished fourth and third in the two slaloms at the Jade Enterprises/New Mexico Invitational, earned RMISA Skier of the Week honors … finished 10th in the RMISA/NCAA West Championships in the slalom, and then seventh in the giant slalom … earned Second Team All-America with a 10th place finish in the slalom, and just missed earning a second All-America accolade, finishing 11th in the giant slalom.Sophomore (2013): Earned Second Team All-America with a ninth-place finish in the women’s slalom and finished 20th in the giant slalom at the 2013 NCAAs…earned Second Team All-RMISA honors…led the Lobos and placed 14th or better in all eight RMISA events she competed in…recorded career-best third-place finishes in the giant slalom and slalom at the 2013 RMISA Championships/NCAA West Regionals…named UNM women’s Alpine team MVP.

Prior to UNM: Comes to UNM from the University of Ljublijana in Slovenia…has skied on the World Cup tour for many years, finishing in the top 30 sixteen times…best place was 11th in a World Cup giant slalom race…placed 12th in the giant slalom and 13th in the super combined at the 2009 World Championships…trained with coach Klemen Bergant.

Personal: Born in Luce, Slovenia to Janez Robnik and Cveta Robnik…has two siblings, Primoz and Tina…attended high school at Gimnazija Maribor in Maribor, Slovenia…nickname is Maty…hobbies include wind surfing, horse riding and painting…favorite athlete is Ted Ligety…lists seafood as her favorite food and The Gladiator as her favorite movie…undecided on a major.
