The University of New Mexico Lobo Spirit Program welcomes dedicated and passionate student-athletes to try out for the 2026–2027 Cheer and Dance teams.

The mission of the Lobo Spirit Program is to elevate the game-day environment by supporting Lobo Athletics and upholding a positive image as ambassadors of the University of New Mexico and the state. Through energy, unity, and tradition, we cultivate pride while building a cohesive team environment that promotes both individual and collective growth. Built on effort, accountability, and high standards, our role is earned through daily discipline, leadership, and community engagement as we prepare student-athletes to lead with pride, professionalism, and integrity in every space we represent the university. We prepare our student-athletes to become confident, successful, and responsible members of society.

The Lobo Spirit Program is a game-day team that proudly supports Lobo Athletics while representing the University of New Mexico as ambassadors and leaders on campus and in the community. From practices to performances at University Stadium and The Pit, our athletes create lasting memories while growing in a positive environment that supports collegiate-level skill development, teamwork, and leadership.

The Lobo Spirit Program seeks responsible, team-first student-athletes who are passionate about serving the University of New Mexico through game-day cheer and dance first. While we value competitiveness and growth, our primary focus is creating an elite game-day environment, supporting Lobo Athletics, and representing UNM with pride, energy, and professionalism. National competition opportunities may exist but are not guaranteed and are secondary to our commitment to game-day performance, teamwork, and ambassador responsibility.

IMPORTANT TRYOUT DATES

• March 30 – Tryout application available
• April 14 – Tryout application due
• April 20 – Video submissions due
• April 24 – Finalists announced
• May 1–3 – In-person tryouts
