ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- The University of New Mexico and New Mexico State University have agreed to the next four Rio Grande Rivalry games, keeping one of the great rivalries in the FBS alive and well through the 2029 season.

The next four games are scheduled as follows:

• September 26, 2026, Las Cruces
• September 25, 2027, Albuquerque
• September 16, 2028, Las Cruces
• September 15, 2029, Albuquerque

Last year, the Lobos won 38-20, one of nine overall wins for head coach Jason Eck and company. For the first time since the Maloof Trophy was awarded, the teams played for a trophy. Both student fan groups got together and made a Chile Roaster, branded with both teams' initials. The Lobos have won two straight over NMSU and hold a dominant overall lead, 75-35-5.

The game in 2026 is one of two road contests, along with Oklahoma. The Lobos will also host Central Michigan and Mercyhurst in 2026.
