ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- A pair of veteran University of New Mexico athletics staff members, Amy Beggin and Dante Mileta, have been promoted to expanded leadership roles within the department, UNM Vice President/Director of Athletics Ryan Berryman announced today.

Beggin will now serve as the Lobos’ Deputy Athletic Director and Chief Strategy Officer / SWA, while Mileta will be promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director for Business Operations.

“Amy and Dante are incredibly deserving of this recognition,” Berryman said. “For both, no task is too big or too small. They consistently epitomize what it means to be a servant leader, and I am excited to recognize them with expanded leadership roles.”

Beggin will assume the role of Deputy AD and Chief Strategy Officer while continuing to serve as the department’s Senior Woman Administrator and Title IX Coordinator. In her expanded role, Beggin will continue to oversee the department’s compliance and financial aid efforts and sport administration programming. Her expanded duties will include overseeing sport administration for UNM’s nationally esteemed men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and men’s and women’s track and cross country programs. Beggin will also lead the department’s efforts to develop strategy to navigate the ever-changing intercollegiate athletics landscape, including the evolving student-athlete CAPS reporting system, changing governmental orders, and national bylaw changes.

Before her promotion, Beggin served as Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director for Governance and Sports Administration after joining the athletics administration in 2016 as Director of Compliance. Her journey with UNM dates to 2006, when she began to star as point guard for the Lobo women’s basketball program. A 2010 graduate and three-time All-Mountain West Conference selection, Beggin is one of 17 New Mexico players to reach 1,000 points in a career and the sixth player in Lobo history to reach the mark as a junior after a 553-point season averaging 15.4 points per game.

“I am so humbled and honored to work for Lobo Athletics,” said Beggin. “I love working with our amazing student-athletes and coaches every day and am excited to continue making an impact. I’m so thankful to Ryan for this opportunity. Go Lobos!”

Mileta has been promoted to Senior Associate Athletic Director for Business Operations after previously serving as an Associate Athletic Director. Mileta will assume an expanded role overseeing the athletic department's financial matters after Berryman was named UNM’s Director of Athletics in March. He will serve as a liaison across campus with the Office of the Provost, University Treasury, Human Resources, and Procurement Services. Mileta will also oversee the department’s name, image, and likeness business operations, working with coaches, University Counsel, and the athletics compliance office to manage the department’s functions in this space while also serving as the sport administrator for baseball. He will also now serve on the Director of Athletics’ Executive Staff.

“New Mexico is a special place, and I’m proud to be part of a community with such incredible coaches, student-athletes, staff and fans,” said Mileta. “I’m grateful to Ryan Berryman for his confidence in me and the opportunity to serve UNM in this role. I’m excited to continue working alongside a great team to build on the momentum of Lobo Athletics.”

Dante joined the Lobo family in May 2023, serving as Assistant Athletic Director for Business Operations before being promoted to Associate Athletic Director. He is a two-time graduate of the University of New Mexico with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Jim and Gail Ellis School of Business Leadership.
