TYLER, Texas --- Bailen George was named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week Honorable Mention list. George earned the honor for his play against UTEP in a 61-7 Lobo win.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award is given to offensive players who either play for a Texas-based school or played at a Texas-based high school.
George caught two passes against UTEP, and both went for touchdowns. He scored on a 52-yard touchdown pass on third-and-1, and he also scored on a 10-yard touchdown. George and his other true freshman receivers and tight ends combined for eight catches, 180 yards, and two touchdowns.
Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway earned the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award as National Player of the Week after throwing for a career-high four touchdowns and rushing for a fifth in a 55-19 rout over Arizona State.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, announced in 2012 by the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler, recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.
In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: Played football and graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a four-year D1 Texas college.
