ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The New Mexico Lobos are back on the road, seeking their first win in San Jose since 1969, as they take on the Spartans at 1:05 pm Pacific, 2:05 pm Mountain Time, on MW+. The Lobos are 6-1 and are receiving votes in both major polls, the AP and the Coaches Poll. San Jose State is 4-4 this season and 2-2 in the Mountain West. The Spartans are three wins away from bowl eligibility, as they have played 13 games this season.
UNM is 0-7-1 in San Jose since a three-point win in 1969. This is UNM's second straight season playing on the road against San Jose State, as the addition of NIU, UTEP, and North Dakota State means one of UNM's 2025 road games would have to repeat as a road game to get UTEP at home.
The Lobos are the second team out of the AP Poll, and they are looking to be ranked for the first time in school history. UNM was ranked No. 25 in the final regular season poll in 1997, but that was in the coaches poll.
