ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – After leading New Mexico Volleyball to a pair of four-set victories over San Jose State, Madeleine Miller and Camila Canedo have been named Old Trapper Mountain West Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, the conference announced Monday.

Miller earned her first weekly conference honor of the season and second of her career, previously receiving Offensive Player of the Week recognition on Sept. 8, 2025. Canedo collected her second Defensive Player of the Week award this season and third of her career, following honors earlier this month after UNM’s road sweep at UC Davis and on Oct. 20, 2025.

Miller led the Mountain West with 102 assists and 12.75 assists per set across the two victories, finishing more than two assists per set ahead of the conference’s next-highest average. The senior setter directed a Lobo offense that led the league in kills per set (15.25) and assists per set (14.63) during the week while ranking second in hitting percentage (.273).

The Shueyville, Iowa, native opened the weekend with a double-double Friday, finishing with 47 assists and 10 digs while adding three kills and three blocks. She followed with a career-high 55 assists Sunday, helping five Lobos reach double-digit kills as UNM finished with 63 kills on .336 hitting. Her 55 assists were the most by a Mountain West player in a four-set match during the week.

Miller finished the weekend with six kills, 17 digs and five blocks while serving without an error on 22 attempts.

Canedo anchored the back row with a conference-leading 45 digs and 5.63 digs per set, totaling 11 more digs than any other Mountain West player during the week. The senior libero recorded 21 digs Friday before adding 24 Sunday — the league’s highest total in a four-set match during the week.

The Curitiba, Brazil, native accounted for nearly 35 percent of UNM’s digs as the Lobos finished with a 129-91 advantage over the Spartans. Her efforts helped hold San Jose State to a .197 hitting percentage across the two matches, with UNM tying for second in the conference in digs per set (16.13). Canedo also contributed seven assists.

The Lobos continue their homestand against Grand Canyon on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. at The Pit – Powered by Nusenda. Both matches will stream on MW+, with live stats available at GoLobos.com/VBStats.
