SAN MARCOS, Texas – The New Mexico women’s golf team concluded play Monday in its final event of the fall with the final round of the Jim West Challenge at Kissing Tree Golf Club. The Lobos shot even par during the third round to finish the event in ninth place at 25-over.

TCU won the event at 20-under, eight shots ahead of Missouri at 12-under. North Texas was third at 10-under while Notre Dame was the only other team to finish under par at 2-under.

Freshman Julia Gelma shined on Monday, shooting a bogey-free 4-under 68 in the final round, her low round of the season. She climbed up to a T-25th finish at 4-over, the best finish of her collegiate career. Chelsea Truong finished the tournament at 6-over, while Ausanee Udkamtiang was at 10-over, Ava Cepeda was at 11-over and Ciara Rushmer was at 14-over.

"Today's round was a good way to finish our fall," said head coach Jill Trujillo. "They fought the whole way. Julia's bogey-free 4-under was incredible to watch."

The Lobos will be off until February when they start the spring season at the Bruin Wave Invitational, held Feb. 22-23 in Valencia, Calif.
