LAS VEGAS, Nev. --- Darren Agu, who led UNM iwth seven tackles and a career-high 3.5 tackles for loss in UNM's 21-10 victory at Hawai'i on Saturday, was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week, marking the third consecutive week that the Lobos have earned a weekly honor.
Along with Agu, Tyler Hughes, Wyoming quarterback, was the Offensive Player of the Week, and North Dakota State's Jackson Williams and Marion Moore were the Special Teams and Freshman of the Week, respectively.
Agus seven tackles tied for the team lead, and of his 3.5 TFLs, three were solo. He had an 11-yard sack of Micah Alejado, and overall he totaled 18 yards of lost yardage. His biggest sequence came in the fourth quarter. On first-and-goal at the eight, he shuttered a Hawai'i running back for a 4-yard loss, and then he recorded a hurry in forcing an incompletion. Hawai'i fumbled the next play, setting up UNM's go-ahead touchdown.
Agu's 3.5 TFLs equalled his season total from 2025. After UNM's last game, Austin Brawley was the Special Teams Player of the Week, and Toa Fa'avae was named Freshman of the Week in back-to-back weeks.
UNM hosts North Dakota State on Saturday at 8 pm at University Stadium, and fans should grab tickets now as the available ticket count is dwindling. Fans can get tickets at golobos.com/tickets.
