ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s basketball team opens the 2026-27 preseason on Sunday afternoon with an exhibition matchup with Oklahoma State. Game time at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater is 1:00 p.m. MT (2:00 p.m. CT) and the game will have radio coverage on KKOB radio in Albuquerque.

The game will mark the first exhibition game between the teams. The Lobos, who are 68-7 all-time in the preseason, are looking for their first road win in the preseason, having fallen last season at Washington State in their first-ever road exhibition.

The Lobos were picked as the preseason favorite in the Mountain West. New Mexico returns three players from last year’s 26-11 NIT semifinalist squad, including Jake Hall, the Preseason Mountain West Player of the Year, and Uriah Tenette, a preseason All-Mountain West selection.

Oklahoma State is coming off a 20-15 season in 2025-26, reaching the second round of the NIT. The Cowboys are listed as the last team in the field in the latest ESPN Bracketology.

New Mexico has won three of the four previous meetings between the schools, all in the regular season, but Sunday’s game is the first matchup in Stillwater. The team’s last played in the 2011-12 season, a Lobo victory in Oklahoma City. The Cowboys’ win in the series came in the first round of the 1991 NCAA Tournament in College Park, Md.

The Lobos return home for their final two exhibitions later this month, hosting Washington State on Oct. 18 and Arizona State on Oct. 25 at The Pit – Powered by Nusenda as part of the Power Ford Tip-Off Series. Both games will tip-off at 2 p.m. Season ticket holders are reminded to log into their account at GoLobos.com/myaccount to reserve their seats for the Washington State and Arizona State games at the cost of $5 per ticket.
