ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- New Mexico Volleyball put on a show in its first rivalry matchup of the year with New Mexico State, handing the Aggies a four-set loss (25-14, 21-25, 25-20, 25-19) in front of a raucous crowd at The Pit - Powered by Nusenda Monday night.
With 2,544 fans in attendance, UNM’s crowd was the largest for a volleyball match since 2016.
Through two regular-season matches and two exhibitions, the Lobos are averaging 1,507 fans per match – on pace for one of the Top 10 highest single-season averages in program history and highest since 2011.
The Lobos have now won four of the last five meetings with the Aggies since resuming their rivalry in 2024 after a four-year hiatus.
Mina Stanojevic paced New Mexico with 16 kills on .500 hitting, adding six digs and an ace, while Reagan Miller was even more efficient with 15 kills against only two errors on 20 attacks for a .650 hitting percentage.
In the last three matches alone, Reagan Miller is averaging 3.38 kills per set on .567 hitting to go with a team-high 11 total blocks.
Addison France added nine kills, five digs, three block assists and an ace. Madeleine Miller directed a Lobo offense that hit .336 for the match, finishing with 43 assists, five kills on .500 hitting, three service aces and seven digs. Defensively, Camila Canedo led UNM with 13 digs while adding two aces, and Uliana Yastrub finished with eight digs. Overall, the Lobos totaled 59 kills to NMSU’s 49 and outhit the Aggies .336 to .212 in the four-set victory.

SET ONE - NEW MEXICO 25, NEW MEXICO STATE 14
New Mexico seized control of the opening set with a dominant finish, pulling away from an 8-8 tie to take 17 of the final 23 points for a 25-14 win. The Lobos were nearly untouchable offensively, hitting .480 with 15 kills and only three errors on 25 swings while holding New Mexico State to a .200 clip. Mina Stanojevic led the attack with four kills on four swings, while Reagan Miller added three kills without an error and Madeleine Miller put away both of her attempts while dishing out eight assists.
UNM began creating separation with a 6-2 surge that turned an 8-8 tie into a 14-10 advantage, getting two kills from Stanojevic and a block team-up from Zoe Leonard and Addison France during the stretch. After the Aggies pulled within three at 16-13, the Lobos slammed the door with a 9-1 run, with Reagan Miller supplying back-to-back kills and Camila Canedo finishing the set with consecutive service aces for the final two points.
SET TWO - NEW MEXICO STATE 25, NEW MEXICO 21
New Mexico nearly erased a seven-point deficit late in the second set before New Mexico State held on for a 25-21 win to even the match. The Aggies had stretched their lead to 18-11 and looked to run away with things, but the Lobos began chipping away, getting kills from Mina Stanojevic and Uliana Yastrub before back-to-back NMSU attack errors pulled UNM within 19-15.
After NMSU pushed the margin back to 21-15, UNM made its strongest charge of the set with a 4-0 run. Stanojevic started things off with a kill before Reagan Miller delivered kills on back-to-back swings and Amanda Tremeroli added another to make it 21-19. The Lobos continued to press, with Tremeroli and Stanojevic answering an Aggie point to cut the deficit all the way to 22-21, but NMSU scored the final three points to close it out.
Despite dropping the set, UNM outhit NMSU .276 to .219 in the second, finishing with 16 kills.
SET THREE - NEW MEXICO 25, NEW MEXICO STATE 20
The Lobos regained the momentum in the third set with a 25-20 win, weathering multiple New Mexico State pushes before taking control down the stretch. UNM opened with the first three points behind kills from Uliana Yastrub and Addison France and a Madeleine Miller ace, but NMSU battled back and eventually took its first lead of the frame at 12-11. UNM immediately responded with a decisive 5-0 run, getting a kill from France, a kill from Mina Stanojevic and three Aggie attack errors to pull ahead 16-12.
The Aggies cut the margin back to 17-16, but the Lobos answered again. After a Stanojevic kill made it 18-16, UNM broke away with four consecutive points to turn an 18-17 edge into a 22-17 advantage, capped by a Stanojevic service ace and a Reagan Miller/Madeleine Miller block. NMSU made one last push to get within 22-20, but UNM scored the final three points, with Reagan Miller putting away set point for the 25-20 victory and a 2-1 match lead.
The Lobos hit .429 in the set with 14 kills and only two errors, while NMSU committed eight attack errors and hit .265.
SET FOUR - NEW MEXICO 25, NEW MEXICO STATE 19
New Mexico closed out the rivalry win with a 25-19 fourth-set victory, surviving an Aggie response before pulling away late. The teams traded points through a 7-7 tie before the Lobos rattled off five straight, with Madeleine Miller serving consecutive aces and Addison France finishing the run with a kill to make it 12-7. NMSU answered with five points of its own to erase the entire margin and tie the set at 12-12.
UNM immediately regained control. France broke the tie with a kill and the Lobos scored five of the next six points to build a 17-13 advantage, with Campbell Hollister contributing a kill during the stretch. NMSU never got closer than two the rest of the way. Madeleine Miller delivered back-to-back kills to extend the lead to 20-16 before Reagan Miller supplied two of UNM’s final four points, including the kill that brought up match point at 24-19. An Aggie attack error on the next rally sealed the 25-19 set and 3-1 New Mexico victory.
