GREELEY, Colo.— The Lobos return to the field noon Sunday against Northern Colorado, set to stream on ESPN+.
UNM enters the contest 2-2-0 with the Bears 1-2-2 and will be facing each other for the third time in program history and the first time since 2009, a 3-1 Lobo victory. UNM is 1-0-1 all-time against UNC, however, this will be the first meeting in Greeley.
COLORADO CONNECTION
UNM travels to Colorado and Northern Colorado to open September and for five Lobos, that means going home.
Gabby Beaudry (Castle Pines), Alyson Campbell (Boulder), Celina Frenz (Littleton), Fiona Jenkins (Fort Collins) and Morgan Juran (Littleton) are all from Colorado. Campbell attended Fairview High School in Boulder.
CAREER NIGHT IN HER HOMETOWN
UNM goalkeeper Alyson Campbell faced a career-high 21 shots and made a career-high 10 saves in her return to her hometown of Boulder, Colorado on Thursday night against Colorado.
Of her 10 saves, Campbell made six in the first half and four in the second half.
GO THE DISTANCE
In the four matches, Morgan Juran has played the full 360 minutes, along with goalkeeper Alyson Campbell.
Last season, Juran played 90 minutes in 14 of the 19 matches, and in her three years at UNM, has played the full 90 in 23 matches. Counting her freshman season at Elon, she’s played 90 minutes 31 times throughout her collegiate career.
Kennedy Brown played 90 minutes 16 times last season and in a total of 32 matches in her time as a Lobo. Brown has also started every match the last three years and the last 55 matches. She played the full 90 minutes in the first two matches, 80 against CSUN and 85 at Colorado.
Fiona Jenkins played 90 minutes in eight matches last season and 30 times in her four years as a Lobo. Like Brown, she played the full 90 matches in the first two matches and went 86 minutes against CSUN.
Gabby Beaudry recently joined the list, playing the full 90 minutes the last two matches. She’s played the full time three times in her time as a Lobo, going 90 minutes last year at Oregon.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Northern Colorado is 1-2-2 on the season, coming off of a 1-0 road loss to Creighton. UNC opened the season with a 1-1 draw with Denver, followed by a 3-0 loss to Wyoming, a 2-1 win over Colorado State and a scoreless draw against South Dakota.
The Bears have scored three goals, two by Madeline Mori against Colorado State. Hannah Schmitt has accounted for the other goal, which came in the season opener, with Lexi Tuite leading the Bears with two assists. Ten players have started all five matches, including goalkeeper Thordis Melsted, who has made 36 saves and allowed six goals.
