THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. --- The New Mexico Lobos swept six doubles matches, and the quartet of Datio Ciobotaru, Philip Bosin, Alberto Perez, and Max Relic went 15-5 overall as the Lobos showed out well at the Sherwood Collegiate Cup.
At the Sherwood, the Lobos faced opponents from Pepperdine, Cal Lutheran, Cal Poly, Loyola Marymount, and Southern Methodist. Overall, UNM went 6-0 in doubles and 9-5 in singles. In the Cup, all teams were four-person teams, playing doubles to four until the playoffs, and then best-of-three singles matches.
UNM took every doubles match, with Perez and Relic teaming to go 3-0, as did Ciobotaru and Bosin.
In singles, Philip Bosin went 3-0 and completed a perfect 6-0 Cup run. Bosin lost just three games in his opening two matches before winning 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 over Petar Teodorovic of SMU. Dario Ciobotaru went 3-1 in singles, Alberto Perez won a pair, and Max Relic won a singles match in limited singles action.
