HONOLULU, Hawai‘i — New Mexico opened Mountain West play with a 3-0 (17-25, 13-25, 21-25) loss to Hawai‘i Friday night at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
The Lobos fell to 2-9 overall and 0-1 in conference play, while the Rainbow Wahine improved to 9-3 and 1-0 in the MW.
Reagan Miller led the Lobo offense with 10 kills on .304 hitting, adding three blocks for a team-high 12 points. Mina Stanojevic finished with seven kills and five digs, while Campbell Hollister added five kills. Madeleine Miller handed out 17 assists with seven digs, and Camila Canedo anchored the back row with a match-high 20 digs.
Hawai‘i finished with advantages in kills (44-27), hitting percentage (.252-.124), aces (9-2) and total blocks (9-5). Tali Hakas paced the Rainbow Wahine with 17 kills on .484 hitting, while Miliana Sylvester and Rachel Purser added eight kills apiece.
The Lobos made their strongest push in the third, pulling within one at 20-19 before Hawai‘i closed out the match with five of the final seven points.
