ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s golf team begins its 2026-27 season this week with a trip to Japan for the Pan Pacific University Golf Super League. The tournament features collegiate teams from around the world and will be held Wednesday-Friday at the Grand Fields Country Club in Shizuoka. It will feature one round per day on the 7,219-yard, par-71 course.
The tournament is in its third season and features 14 collegiate teams from around the world. The Lobos are joined by TCU, Florida Gulf Coast and Seattle as the four American teams in the field. Also in the field are colleges from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and the United Kingdom.
The Lobos will feature a lineup of four veterans and one newcomer. Wyatt Provence, Thayer Plewe, Johnnie Clark and Clark Sonnenberg all return to the UNM lineup and are joined by transfer Dylan Park.
New Mexico is playing an event in Japan for the second time, having won the Topy Cup to begin the 2004-05 season. The tournament starts a stretch for the Lobos where their first three events of the season are all in different countries (Japan, Canada, United States).
