LAS CRUCES, N.M. — New Mexico Volleyball saw three players notch double-doubles but couldn’t keep pace with undefeated Tulsa as the Lobos fell in four sets (18-25, 25-23, 20-25, ) in neutral-site action Sunday at the Pan American Center.
Mina Stanojevic finished with a double-double for the second match in a row to lead UNM’s attack, with Addison France joining her in double figures with 10 kills and 10 digs for a double-double of her own.
Madeleine Miller also finished with a double-double after dishing out 34 of UNM’s 40 assists to go with 12 digs, six kills on .455 hitting and an ace. Zoe Leonard added six kills on .214 hitting and five digs, while Campbell Hollister led the Lobos at the net with seven total blocks, including two solo blocks.
New Mexico finished with a 62-56 advantage in digs, but Tulsa held the edge offensively with 51 kills to UNM’s 44 while hitting .174 to the Lobos’ .106. The Golden Hurricane also finished with advantages of 13-8 in total blocks and 9-2 from the service line.

Set One – Tulsa 25, New Mexico 18
Tulsa jumped out to a 3-0 lead before New Mexico settled in, with kills from France and Stanojevic helping the Lobos work their way back. UNM drew even at 7-7 on a Tulsa attack error before France put away her third kill of the set to give New Mexico its first lead at 8-7. The teams remained even at 9-all before Tulsa began to create separation, scoring seven of the next eight points to build a 16-10 advantage.
The Golden Hurricane extended the margin to 21-13 before consecutive Stanojevic kills pulled the Lobos back within six. UNM continued to battle late, with a Miller kill followed by a Stanojevic ace cutting the deficit to 23-18, but Tulsa scored the final two points to close out the opener. New Mexico hit .207 with 11 kills in the frame, while Tulsa connected at a .360 clip with 13 kills.
Set Two – New Mexico 25, Tulsa 23
New Mexico responded with four consecutive points to open the second, getting a kill from Miller, a Hollister solo block and a France-Hollister block during the early run. The Lobos maintained the advantage through a 10-6 lead before Tulsa countered with a 5-0 run to move in front 14-11.
UNM answered immediately, with a Tulsa service error and a France kill setting up Miller’s ace to even the set at 14-all. Neither team was able to pull away from there, with the Lobos coming back from a 22-20 deficit to tie things up on a Miller kill. Consecutive Tulsa attack errors then gave New Mexico set point at 24-22. Tulsa fought off the first opportunity, but France put away her fifth kill of the frame on the next rally to finish the 25-23 win and even the match at one set apiece.
Set Three – Tulsa 25, New Mexico 20
The teams traded points through a 5-5 tie before Tulsa broke open the set with six unanswered points, using an ace, a block and a pair of kills to surge ahead 11-5. New Mexico chipped away from there, with Leonard and Stanojevic supplying kills before Miller and Hollister teamed up for a block that made it 12-9.
Tulsa pushed the margin back to six at 15-9, but the Lobos again responded at the net. A Miller-Hollister block, a Hollister solo block and a Hollister-Ravell block helped UNM get back within three before a Ravell kill, a France-Leonard block and a Tulsa setting error cut the deficit all the way to 16-15. The Golden Hurricane regained control with four of the next five points to move ahead 20-16. Leonard and Stanojevic pulled UNM within two at 20-18, but Tulsa scored five of the final seven points to take the set 25-20 and move back in front in the match.
Set Four – Tulsa 25, New Mexico 19
New Mexico grabbed an early 3-1 advantage in the fourth behind kills from France and Stanojevic along with a triple block from France, Hollister and Aylin Ravell. The teams traded points through a 7-7 tie before Tulsa began to gain separation, moving ahead 11-8.
The Lobos stayed within striking distance, with two France kills and a Tulsa attack error cutting the margin to 13-12 before a Stanojevic kill made it 14-13. Tulsa pushed its lead back to 17-14, and another Stanojevic kill kept UNM within two at 17-15, but the Golden Hurricane responded by scoring seven of the next eight points to reach match point at 24-16.
New Mexico fought off three consecutive match points behind a Tulsa service error and attack error before Leonard put away her sixth kill of the match to make it 24-19. Tulsa answered with a kill on the next rally to close out the set and match.
