Stadium East Parking Procedures Updated for 2026 Football SeasonStadium East Parking Procedures Updated for 2026 Football Season

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- Excitement is continuing to build for the 2026 Lobo Football season, and as everyone prepares for kickoff on September 5 against Central Michigan, UNM has updated its parking procedures for the popular Stadium East tailgate lot.

These procedures are being implemented to maximize the number of available parking spaces, improve traffic flow, enhance safety for fans and staff, reduce congestion at lot entrances, and create an overall more efficient game-day experience.

“The 2025 season saw tremendous crowds at University Stadium, and we are implementing new procedures to allow us to maximize our available parking spaces, creating a better tailgating experience. Our hope is to allow even more fans the ability to experience the vibrant tailgating atmosphere in Stadium East parking lot,” said UNM Vice President/Director of Athletics Ryan Berryman.

“We appreciate our fans working with us to implement these changes,” he added. “A shortage of parking spaces is a great problem to have as it means the Lobos are playing meaningful football and competing for a conference championship.”

STANDARD STADIUM EAST LOT OPENING

While UNM’s home game times range from 2:00 p.m. (September 12 vs. Mercyhurst and October 2 vs. UTEP) to 8:00 p.m. (September 5 against Central Michigan and October 24 vs. North Dakota State), Stadium East will open at 6:00 a.m. on all game days, allowing fans to enjoy the tailgating experience and make every game day all about Lobo Football in the Stadium East lot.

Tailgating ends at kickoff, and the lots close after the game. Parking in the Stadium East lot will continue to be available on a first come, first serve basis at $15.00 plus tax per car.

NEW RESERVED TAILGATE SPACES ALONG GRASS

For 2026, a limited number of reserved tailgating spaces will be available for purchase in advance through the Lobo Club. These spaces are available along the grass in Stadium East.

Each reservation includes the space equivalent of six standard parking spaces and can be purchased in advance for $500 for the season or $100 per game.

Reserved space holders must arrive the day before the game to access their assigned area. To purchase a reserved tailgate space for the entire season in Stadium East, please contact the UNM Lobo Club at 505-925-5514.

No RV’s or trailers will be permitted to enter the Stadium East lot on game day, unless a reserved tailgate pass was purchased in advance.

NEW PARKING GRID AND PARKING PROCEDURES

For 2026, all vehicles entering Stadium East on game day will be directed to their parking locations by event staff. Parking will begin at the north end of the lot and progress south, filling each row sequentially.

Both sides of the rows will be filled before moving down the row toward the east. This process provides the safest environment for vehicles setting up equipment and production from the rear of their vehicles.

Head-in parking is encouraged. Behind each vehicle, fans can have a 10x10 tent; this will allow a public safety lane in each row that emergency personnel can access.

For fans wanting to park together, cars must arrive in a caravan, or park and walk to their friends’ tailgate. Spaces can no longer be held or saved for vehicles arriving later. This is a change from previous years, but it will allow more Lobo fans to park closer to the stadium while maximizing safety within the lots.

RV’s and trailers will not be permitted to enter Stadium East on game day. RV and trailer users are encouraged to park in the Pit West gravel area, and single and season passes are available. Fans who park in Stadium East are encouraged to enter the venue through Gate 9, located at the southeast corner of University Stadium.

RESERVED STUDENT TAILGATE AREA

For 2026, the student tailgate area will remain at the south end of Stadium East. Students will enter the Stadium East lot and continue straight to access the student tailgate area. Students will be required to present their valid UNM student ID to enter the reserved student tailgate area.
