ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- Troy Omeire has been named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List by the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce and SPORTyler.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: Played football at and graduated from a Texas High School and/or is currently playing at a Texas D1 four-year college.
Omeire joins a host of Lobos feted with preseason honors. He joins Jaxton Eck, who has been named to six watch lists (Lombardi, Bednarik, Butkus, Nagurski, AFCA Good Works, and Wuerffell), Brian Booker (Outland), Cade Keith (Mackey), Austin Brawley (Thorpe), and Albert Tuakalau (Polynesian)
Omeire has played at Texas, Arizona State, and UNLV in his career, which started in the 2020 COVID season. Omeire recorded 31 catches for 514 yards and five touchdowns last season, including five against UNM in Las Vegas. He is one of 107 on the initial Watch List, and he joins Alex Orji and Jackson Arnold of UNLV, Kam Thomas of UTEP, Owen Allen of Air Force, and Samuel Harris of Wyoming as players from the Mountain West on the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Watch List.
