ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico bounced back from Friday’s five-set exhibition defeat with a 3-1 win over Arizona (27-25, 15-25, 25-16, 25-20) at The Pit - Powered by Nusenda Saturday afternoon. 

The Lobos finished with 48 kills on .179 hitting while holding the Wildcats to a .137 clip, committing five fewer attacking errors (22-27) in the process.

Addison France led the way with a match-high 19 kills on .255 hitting to go along with eight digs and two block assists. Campbell Hollister connected at a team-best .400 clip with five kills on 10 swings, while Aylin Ravell added five kills and Uliana Yastrub and Zoe Leonard finished with four apiece. Mina Stanojevic chipped in seven kills and 12 digs.

Madeleine Miller dished out 33 of UNM’s 40 assists while adding six digs, with Camila Canedo anchoring the back row with a match-high 22 digs. Canedo also served up two of the Lobos’ five aces.

SET ONE - LOBOS 27, ARIZONA 25

In an opening set that featured 15 ties and eight lead changes, the Lobos rallied from an 18-15 deficit with three consecutive kills from Reagan Miller, France and Madeleine Miller to surge in front 19-18. After Arizona answered with a late push of its own to lead 23-21, Canedo’s ace knotted things back up at 23-all before the teams traded points into extra rallies. Leonard put UNM on set point with a kill at 25-24 and, after another Arizona answer, Stanojevic delivered a kill for a 26-25 lead before a Wildcat attack error closed it out.

France took over offensively with eight kills on .353 hitting in the opening frame as New Mexico put away 15 kills at a .225 clip.

SET TWO - ARIZONA 25, LOBOS 15

New Mexico jumped ahead 4-1 to start the second, but Arizona responded with six unanswered points to take a 7-4 advantage and never trailed again. The Wildcats extended the margin with another four-point run that made it 16-9 before scoring six of the final seven points after UNM had pulled within 19-15.
The Lobos were held to nine kills on .031 hitting in the set, with Ravell providing four kills on seven swings and France adding three. Arizona connected at a .194 clip while serving four aces.

SET THREE - LOBOS 25, ARIZONA 16

France set the tone immediately in the third with kills on each of UNM’s first three points. After Arizona battled back to tie it at 5-5, the Lobos rattled off five consecutive points to take control at 10-5 and continued to pull away from there, stretching the margin to double digits at 20-10 en route to a nine-point win.

UNM turned in its most efficient offensive set of the match with 12 kills on .258 hitting while forcing Arizona into nine attack errors and a -.032 hitting percentage. France put away five kills without an error on 10 swings, while Yastrub added three kills on four attempts and an ace.

SET FOUR - LOBOS 25, ARIZONA 20

After Arizona raced out to a 4-0 lead and later went up 12-7, the Lobos flipped the set with eight unanswered points. Hollister started the surge with a kill before Stanojevic served up an ace and added a kill of her own, with France putting away two more during the run to give New Mexico a 15-12 advantage.
Arizona got back within two at 19-17, but the Lobos never surrendered the lead, scoring six of the final nine points to finish the match. Hollister delivered the clinching kill and finished the fourth with a set-high four kills on .375 hitting, while France added three and Stanojevic and Leonard chipped in two apiece. Canedo and Stanojevic both collected seven digs in the final frame.

ICONIC NEW DIGS
Friday’s exhibition was the first volleyball match played at The Pit - Powered by Nusenda since 2023, with this season marking the first time the Lobos play at The Pit full-time since 1999. This fall, The Pit celebrates its 60th anniversary, with its first game played on Dec. 1, 1966

Over the past two exhibitions to kick off the 2026 season, UNM is averaging 1,136 fans in attendance.

UNM is 30-42 at University Arena / The Pit all-time, with a 7-3 record there since 2020.

The building ushered in a new era on February 26, 2026, when The University of New Mexico, UNM Sports Properties, and Nusenda Credit Union announced an historic 10-year partnership that provides an average annual value of $1.74 million in support of UNM Athletics. As part of the agreement, University Arena – The Pit officially was renamed The Pit - Powered by Nusenda, preserving the iconic identity of one of college basketball’s most storied venues while recognizing Nusenda’s longstanding investment in the University and the state.
