LAS VEGAS, Nev. --- The New Mexico Communications Office picked up a pair of national honors at the recently completed Collegiate Sports Communicators (CSC) Unite Convention. Assoc. AD for Communications Frank Mercogliano earned national honors for his football game notes, and Director of Creative Services (Graphic Design) Jonathan Tibbetts earned national honors for his specialty milestone graphic.
Mercogliano was honored in the CSC Game Notes category, earning fifth place nationally for overall game notes, and second for FBS game notes. He was honored for his Rate Bowl Game Notes, which came in second only to the University of Oregon’s CFB Notes against Indiana.
The Game Notes packages are distributed to the media and television partners prior to each game to help aid in coverage of the event, and they are free for fans to download as well.
Tibbetts was honored in the Individual Awards, Milestones, & Record Graphics category. His winning entry, which came in 16th overall in Division I, was for men’s basketball player Jake Hall breaking the Mountain West’s all-time scoring record for freshmen. Among Division I basketball graphics (men or women), Tibbett’s entry finished sixth in the nation.
