ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- Lobo Men’s Tennis continues to add to its 2026-27 roster as UNM looks for a fifth Mountain West title since 2019, adding former Utah Ute Max Relic. Relic and Bareford know each other well, as Relic also played at Montana State, where Bareford previously coached.

Relic, whose first name is Maximillian, will be a senior in 2026-27 and hails from London, England. In limited action in the fall for Utah, he went 6-2 in singles and 9-2 in doubles. Included in that mark was a perfect 4-0 mark at the season-opening Utah Invitational, doing so in both singles and doubles.

In his freshman year at Montana State under Bareford, Relic played both No. 1 in singles and doubles, earning All-Big Sky honors in singles and Honorable Mention All-Big Sky honors in doubles.

“The culture Coach Bareford has built, along with the program's competitive ambition, made it an easy decision,” said Relic. “I'm grateful for the opportunity and eager to bring my experience and passion for the game to the program. I'm excited to be part of the Lobo family and can't wait to help the team compete for a championship.”

Before his time as a Bobcat, Relic was in the UK Top 10 for under-18s and under-16s. He was the Winter National runner-up in 16s.
