ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico Volleyball Head Coach Brian Hosfeld announced the addition of Patrick Sullivan as an Associate Head Coach for the upcoming season, bringing more than 35 years of experience in volleyball as a student-athlete and tenured coach to round out his staff.
Sullivan’s coaching background includes but is not limited to experience at the NCAA Division I level with Bradley University and the University of Northern Iowa, as well as Long Beach State and Golden West College. Across these roles, he has contributed to conference success, postseason appearances, and a state championship as a Co-Head Coach, while supporting all aspects of program operations, including recruiting, scouting, player development, and academic achievement. At Bradley, Coach Sullivan played a key role in developing the team’s middle blockers, contributing to significant improvements in offensive efficiency and blocking performance within the Missouri Valley Conference.
In addition to collegiate coaching, Coach Sullivan has extensive experience in club and developmental volleyball. As the founder and director of Stealth Volleyball, he established and led a competitive club program that successfully placed athletes at the collegiate level across NCAA divisions. Coach Sullivan has also served as a recruiting coordinator and private trainer, working with athletes ranging from youth to Division I prospects, while providing guidance throughout the recruiting process.
A former NCAA National Champion at Long Beach State, Coach Sullivan competed at the highest level of collegiate volleyball and was part of multiple NCAA Championship finalist teams. His playing experience also includes national-level competition, highlighted by multiple USA Volleyball Open National Championships with Team ASICS/Paul Mitchell. In recognition of these accomplishments, Coach Sullivan was inducted into the Madera Sports Hall of Fame (Second Class) and is a member of Long Beach State’s Volleyball Wall of Fame and Hall of Fame as part of an NCAA Championship team.
Coach Sullivan has remained actively engaged in the volleyball community through media and outreach efforts, including serving as the creator and host of the “Set The Pipe!!” podcast and contributing as a color commentator for collegiate broadcasts. He brings additional expertise in video analysis, scouting systems, and program administration from experience in media.
