ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s golf team was selected to participate in the NCAA Bryan Regional, as the NCAA announced the regional fields on Wednesday. The tournament will be held May 18-20 at the Traditions Golf Course on the campus of Texas A&M.
The Lobos are making their 33rd NCAA Regional appearance since the format was adopted in 1989, having advanced to the NCAA Championships 21 times. UNM is one of only 12 programs to advance from regionals to nationals in each of the past three seasons, and the only non-power conference team among those 12.
New Mexico, ranked No. 21 nationally, is the No. 4 seed in the Bryan Regional. The 14 teams in the field are Texas, North Carolina, Tennessee, New Mexico, Texas A&M, TCU, UNCW, UNLV, Colorado, Cincinnati, Chattanooga, Miami (OH), UTRGV and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The top five teams at the regional will advance to the NCAA Championships, held May 29-June 3 in Carlsbad, Calif. The top individual (not on advancing teams) will also advance to the NCAA Championships.
The Lobos are playing a regional in Texas for the second time, having played in El Paso in 189, the first year of the regional format. It will be New Mexico’s first ever event at the Traditions Club since 2021-22, when UNM finished fourth at the TAMU’s regular season event, the Aggie Invitational.
New Mexico is coming off a runner-up finish at the Mountain West Championship, falling in a playoff to UNLV after rallying from eight shots back on the final day.
