TUCSON, Ariz. –– The New Mexico men’s golf team continued play Monday at the 2026 Mountain West Championship with the second round at OMNI Tucson National. The Lobos shot 13-under during the second round to climb two spots on the leaderboard, finishing the day in fifth place at 19-under.   

UNLV holds the tournament’s 36-hole lead at 27-under, one shot ahead of Grand Canyon at 26-under. San Diego State is third at 22-under, Wyoming is fourth at 21-under and the Lobos at 19-under round out the top five.

Johnnie Clark led UNM during the second round, shooting a 6-under bogey-free 66, highlighted by two eagles. He is T-8th on the individual leaderboard at 6-under overall. Emil Albers is also T-8th at 6-under through 36 holes after shooting a 5-under 67 on Monday. Wyatt Provence and Clark Sonnenberg each shot a 1-under 71 in the second round, while Thayer Plewe rounded out the lineup with an even par 72.  

The Mountain West Championship concludes Tuesday at OMNI Tucson National.
