ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- The University of New Mexico will travel to Lubbock, Texas, to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders on September 18, 2027.
The Lobos and the Red Raiders last played in 2012, the last of four games in four seasons from 2009-12. Texas Tech won the game in Lubbock, 49-14. The Red Raiders have won four straight in the series, including the 2010 and 2011 games, which were played at University Stadium.
UNM’s last win in the series was in 2004 when the Lobos defeated the Mike Leach-coached Red Raiders 27-24. Overall, the meeting will be the 46th all-time between the two programs in a series that dates back to November 20, 1931. The two teams played nine times from 1981 through 1994, with all nine games decided by one score, with the Lobos taking three.
The Lobos are scheduled to open the 2027 season at home on September 4 against Northern Colorado, and then go on the road to face Oregon State on September 11. UNM also has a home game against New Mexico State in 2027, scheduled for September 25.
The game with Texas Tech replaces UNM’s originally scheduled road game at Texas A&M, which the Aggies canceled.
