ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— University of New Mexico head women’s basketball coach Amy Eagan has announced the first addition to her coaching staff in Jordan Mellott, who will hold the title of associate head coach.
Mellott joins Eagan from Lindenwood, where he also served as associate head coach for the last three seasons. During his time at Lindenwood, Mellott worked with Eagan to turn around the program, going from a seven-win season to a 23-win season, improving on that mark with a 25-win season in 2025-26.
This past season, the Lions were among the best in the Ohio Valley Conference and the NCAA in several statistical categories, including fifth in the country in three-point percentage (37.6) and 19th in field goal percentage (46.4). In addition, Lindenwood finished 26th in the NCAA in assist/turnover ratio (1.22), 31st in three-pointers per game (8.4), 33rd in free throw percentage (76.6),38th in turnovers per game (13.1), 47th in assists per game (16.0) and 48th in scoring margin (12.1).
Prior to his stint at Lindenwood, Mellott worked with Eagan for three seasons at Drury, going 87-9. Mellott was named the NCAA-II Assistant Coach of the Year by the WBCA at the conclusion of the 2021-22 season after Drury went 32-5 and 17-3 in the GLVC, culminating in the program’s sixth consecutive conference championship.
Mellott began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at Adams State, where he spent two seasons, after making the jump from the high school level.
A graduate of Benedictine (Kan.) College, Mellott earned a degree in elementary education and special education in 2012 and went on to earn a master’s degree in education, school and counseling psychology with an emphasis in positive coaching from Missouri in 2017.
