ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico volleyball program will embark on a 12-day European foreign tour from June 2–14, traveling to four countries and competing in up to six international matches as the Lobos prepare for the 2026 season.

The Lobos will open their tour in Prague, Czech Republic, before continuing on to Vienna, Austria, Maribor, Slovenia, and concluding in Milan, Italy. Over the course of the trip, New Mexico will play between four and six matches against local club and professional teams, providing valuable international competition and offseason development.

The NCAA permits programs to take one foreign tour every four years, offering teams the opportunity for additional practices and competition outside of the traditional season. For the Lobos, the trip is meant to be both a competitive and cultural experience — blending high-level volleyball with the opportunity to explore some of Europe’s most historic cities and promote team bonding ahead of the 2026 season.

This summer’s trip was made possible thanks to a generous donation to the program from an anonymous donor. Others interested in supporting Lobo Volleyball can donate to the program-specific Point! Lobos fund at GoLobos.com/PointLobos.

“We’re very excited for our upcoming trip to Europe,” said UNM Head Coach Brian Hosfeld, who will coach his first season in the fall of 2026 after taking the helm in December. “The opportunity to train together, travel together, and compete internationally is an experience that should help launch us into our 2026 competitive season.

"I’d like to give a special thank you to our anonymous donor who’s making this trip possible -- I’d also like to extend thanks to our administration, Ryan Berryman, Amy Beggin, and Jalen Dominguez for their support and commitment to our women’s volleyball program."

In addition to competition, the Lobos will tour historic landmarks, engage in team-building activities and embark on guided city tours and visits to some of Europe’s most iconic architectural and cultural sites.

Match results and behind-the-scenes content from the tour will be shared via GoLobos.com and at @UNMLoboVB on IG and X. More details, including match opponents and times, will be announced at a later date.
