LAS VEGAS, Nev. --- Dario Ciobotaru, who has recorded a 10-6 record at No. 1 singles for UNM in his first season in the top spot, was named to All-Mountain West for singles, as the league announced the conference honorees in a ceremony prior to the start of the Mountain West Tournament at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
The Lobos open Mountain West Tournament play tomorrow, April 22, at 6 p.m. Mountain Time against No. 3-seeded Boise State.
Ciobotaru has won three of his last five, and among his 10 wins was a key clincher vs. Air Force, winning 7-6 (10-8), 7-6 (14-12). He also has wins over No. 1 players against nationally ranked Boise State and Santa Clara, and he was just a few points away from one against nationally ranked Denver as well.
