LAS VEGAS – New Mexico Baseball crushed two homers and got back in the game with a six-run fifth but couldn’t complete the comeback as the Lobos (17-11-1, 3-3-1 MW) fell 15-10 to UNLV in their weekend series opener Thursday at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
The two teams will square off twice more in the three-game series, with the Lobos looking to tie things up in tomorrow’s Game Two (7 p.m. MT).
Brodey Williams mashed a three-run homer – his second of the year – to open the scoring with a 3-0 Lobo lead before the Hustlin’ Rebels responded with 11 runs over the next three frames to take a commanding lead.

Mansy crushed another homer over the right field wall for an immediate response in the top of the seventh but the Rebels got two more back on a bomb of their own for a 15-10 lead that would hold through nine.
