ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— After leading the Lobos at the plate in their six games on the week, Miracle McKenzie has been named the Mountain West Player of the Week.
McKenzie led the Lobos with a .538 batting average, 1.538 slugging percentage, .684 on-base percentage behind a team-high seven hits, as well as a team-high seven RBI and four home runs. The sophomore also drew a team-high five walks.
Of note, McKenzie hit two home runs in Sunday’s win over Samford, putting the Lobos on the board with a solo home run in the first inning and a two-home run in the eighth inning that proved to be the difference in the 4-3 Lobo win.
Sunday was the California native’s second three-RBI game on the week, going 2-3 with an RBI double in the second and a two-run home run in the fourth inning of Saturday’s run-rule win over South Alabama. McKenzie also hit a solo home run in Tuesday’s game at UTEP.
On the week, the first baseman recorded a hit in every game except one with two games with multiple RBI and multiple hits.
McKenzie is the first Lobo to earn a Mountain West award this season and marks the second award that she’s earned in her two years, selected MW Freshman of the Week last season. In addition, she is the first Lobo to win MW Player of the Week since 2023.
