LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The New Mexico women’s golf team concluded play Tuesday at the Lady Luck Invitational with the final round of play at the Las Vegas Country Club. The Lobos shot 13-over during the final round to climb up to a ninth place finish at the event at 51-over.

No. 16 UCF won the event at 2-over, followed by No. 30 Kent State (15-over) and No. 33 Houston (22-over). The Lobos ninth place finish included finishing ahead of No. 19 Baylor and No. 44 Texas Tech.   

Chelsea Truong led the Lobos at the event, shooting an even par final round to finish the tournament at 10-over. Ava Cepeda also finished at 10-over after shooting 1-over on Tuesday. Rebecca Galasso shot 5-over in the final round, while Ciara Rushmer shot 7-over and Maria Caparros Levin shot 9-over.  

“We moved up a bit and had a couple good rounds from Chelsea and Ava,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “We are still making too many others and will get that together before our next event.”

The Lobos return to action March 17-18 with the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Hawaii.
