ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The Lobos return home to host San Diego State for a three-game series starting on Friday. All three games will have free admission, and for those unable to attend, will be streamed on the Mountain West Network with live stats available.

Due to PBR in The Pit, fans are asked to park in the Baseball South lots all three days.

The Lobos enter the series 13-18 on the season, 1-5 in conference play, while the Aztecs are 18-13 and 3-3 in conference.

MIRACLE AT THE PLATE
Sophomore Miracle McKenzie got the bat going at the Mardi Gras Mambo and it continued ever since.

McKenzie has six multiple-hit games and a team-high eight multiple-RBI games, including a season-high three hits in the series finale at ACU behind a career-high two home runs and five RBI. Her six multiple-hit games matches her season total from 2025.

McKenzie was named MW Player of the Week on March 9 after leading the Lobos with a .538 batting average, 1.538 slugging percentage, .684 on-base percentage behind a team-high seven hits, as well as a team-high seven RBI and four home runs. The sophomore also drew a team-high five walks.

The California native hit two home runs in a game for the second time this season against Samford on March 8, giving the Lobos a 1-0 lead in the first and a 4-1 lead in the eighth, which proved to be the difference in the 4-3 win.

She previously had a nine-game streak of reaching base that spanned from Feb. 14 to Feb. 28 and four straight games with at least one RBI between March 7 to March 13.

The first baseman leads the team in slugging percentage (.817), home runs (11), doubles (seven), total bases (67), RBI (26) and on-base percentage (.427) and is second in hits (27) and walks (12).

Her 11 home runs are tied for 10th in a single season in program history and the most by a Lobo since 2022, when Andrea Howard hit 18.

McKenzie is second in the Mountain West in home runs (32nd in the NCAA), home runs per game (0.35) and slugging percentage.

Through 31 games, she has already surpassed her doubles, runs scored, total bases and home runs from her freshman season and has improved her batting average from .275 to .329, her slugging percentage from .420 to .817 and her on-base percentage from .384 to .427.

WILLIAMS AT THE TOP OF THE LINEUP
Freshman Briana Williams has started 26 games this season, leading off the lineup in 13 (the Lobos are 8-5 when she leads off). When the outfielder isn’t hitting leadoff, Williams has been second in the lineup in nine games.

Williams has recorded a hit in the last three games with two hits and two runs in the series finale at Colorado State. On the season, she is fifth in hits with 24, but leads the team with two triples, 24 runs scored and nine stolen bases. She is fourth in on-base percentage (.375), walks (six) and batting average (.304).

Williams recorded a steal in five consecutive games spanning from Feb. 21 against Abilene Christian to Feb. 28 against Tarleton State and is 9-9 on the season. She is fourth in the Mountain West in stolen bases.

The Texas native has seven multiple-hit games, all with two hits. She had a bases-clearing triple for three RBI in the win against Houston Christian on Feb. 28.

She earned her first start against Northwestern State on Feb. 7 and has started 16 games as the designated player, nine starts in left field and a game in right field.

Allie Williams has led off in six games, hit second in eight games, third in eight games and cleanup in five games.

The sophomore is second in 22 RBI, total bases (48), doubles (six) and home runs (five) and is tied for second in hits (27). She has a team-high four sac flies, is second in slugging percentage (.505) and fifth in batting average (.284).

  1. Williams had a 15-game streak of reaching base end at New Mexico State and a 10-game hitting streak that spanned from Feb. 20 to March 6.
  2. Williams hit her first home run against Abilene Christian in the fourth inning of game two that gave UNM a 6-5 lead, added a home run against Houston Christian on Feb. 28 and on the second at-bat of the game at UTEP on March 3. She hit her fourth home run of the season against South Alabama and the fifth in the series finale at Colorado State that tied the game at three.

She has recorded seven multiple-RBI games, four with two RBI and three games with three RBI, and has eight multiple-hit games with six games with two hits and two games with three hits.

HOLD THE LEAD
UNM is 10-3 when holding a lead after the third and fourth innings, 9-3 when leading after the fifth inning and 8-0 when leading after six.

In addition, the Lobos are 10-6 when scoring first and 2-0 in extra innings.

The Lobos are outscoring their opponents 20-15 in the second inning, 16-12 in the third inning and 4-2 in extra innings.

UNM was good when holding a lead last season: 9-5 when leading after the first, 13-6 after the second, 15-3 after the third, 16-4 when leading after the fourth, 15-2 after the fifth and 17-3 leading after the sixth.

TWO OUTS, SO WHAT?
Of UNM’s 125 runs, 55 (44.0%) have come with two outs, including 10 games with multiple runs scored with two outs.

Sixteen of Miracle McKenzie’s 26 RBI on the season have come with two outs, as have six of Jessica DeLeon’s nine and five of Gabrielle Briones’ 10.

Of note, DeLeon drove in the game-winning run against UTEP on Feb. 27 with two outs.

UNM was 14-21 in game two at Abilene Christian with two outs with 10 of the 13 runs coming with two outs in the inning.

Against South Alabama, UNM was 10-16 with two outs and 14 of the 16 runs were scored with two outs.

McKenzie is 13-29 (.448) with two outs with Briones 12-29 (.414).  

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
San Diego State is 3-3 in the Mountain West with a series win over Colorado State and a series loss to UNLV.

The Aztecs are outscoring opponents 157-135 with 273 hits on the season, led by 45 hits from Jade Ignacio. Of her 45 hits, 14 are for extra bases with nine doubles, a triple and four home runs. Ignacio also leads the team with a .437 batting average and 29 RBI, and is 5-5 in stolen bases.

Of the 273 team hits, 71 went for extra bases with 44 doubles, three triples and 24 home runs with Jazmin Williams leading with eight home runs to go with six doubles and two triples.

Six Aztecs have made an appearance in the circle, led by 20 appearances and nine starts by Key-annah Pua and 20 appearances and eight starts from Faith Jordan. Jordon holds a 2.65 ERA, throwing 63.1 innings, five shutouts and one complete game, as well as striking out a team-high 50 to 20 walks. Pua has thrown 62.0 innings with 25 strikeouts to 12 walks. As a staff, the Aztec pitching staff carries a 3.90 ERA with 120 strikeouts to 99 walks and has allowed 194 hits.
