ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico Baseball keeps finding ways to win.
Behind another balanced offensive performance and five shutout innings from Cooper Corkrean, the Lobos defeated St. Thomas 7-3 on Sunday at Lobo Baseball Field to complete their third consecutive four-game sweep and improve to 12-0 on the season. UNM is now one of just three unbeaten teams remaining in Division I, joining USC and Texas.
After St. Thomas scratched across a run in the second, the Lobos responded immediately. Garrett Rede -- who earned the start after playing the hero with a walkoff hit in the second game of Saturday's DH -- launched a two-run homer to deep left in the bottom half to give UNM a 2-1 lead.

New Mexico added two more in the third, capitalizing on a pair of hit-by-pitches and a Gene Trujillo RBI single before Rede lifted a sacrifice fly to extend the advantage to 4-1.
The Lobos continued to add on. Karsen Waslefsky delivered an RBI single in the sixth to plate Brodey Williams, and UNM pushed two more runs across in the seventh on Williams’ RBI double and a passed ball to stretch the margin to 7-1.
Corkrean (1-0) provided the stability on the mound, tossing 5.0 scoreless innings in relief with six strikeouts after entering in the third. Seth Edgerton and Luke Wiseman handled the final two frames as St. Thomas scored single runs in the eighth and ninth, but the Lobos never allowed the tying run to come to the plate.
Rede finished 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI, while Williams went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored to lead a 10-hit attack.
With the win, New Mexico completed another emphatic sweep, extending its season-opening streak to 12 games and continuing the best start in over 50 years.
