TUCSON, Ariz. –– The No. 18 New Mexico men’s golf team completed play Tuesday at the Arizona Thunderbirds Intercollegiate with the final round of play at Tucson Country Club. The Lobos shot 10-under in the third round, tied for the second-best round of the day, to move up the leaderboard for a sixth place finish at 10-under.
Host Arizona, ranked No. 22, won the event at 25-under, one shot ahead of No.32 Long Beach State at 24-under. No. 5 Arizona State and Colorado tied for third at 21-under, while No.14 Oklahoma was fifth at 17-under.
Wyatt Provence led the Lobos on the final day, shooting a 6-under 66 in the third round. He finished the event at 1-over. Mesa Falleur was UNM’s top individual finisher, placing T-12th at 5-under after shooting a final round 70. Thayer Plewe finished the tournament at 2-under, Johnnie Clark finished at even par, while Clark Sonnenberg shot a final round 70 to finish at 6-over.
The Lobos return to action March 26-28 at The Goodwin, hosted by Stanford University.
