COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico’s Jake Hall was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Hall was honored for the fourth time this season, the most awards in the conference this season.

Hall’s honor is the seventh overall for a Lobo this season, as Tomislav Buljan has been recognized three times. Hall’s fourth awards are second-most by a UNM freshman, trailing only JT Toppin’s record nine awards in 2023-24.

Hall led New Mexico to a pair of historic wins last week, as the Lobos defeated Air Force 98-61 to complete the largest combined margin of a series sweep in conference history on Tuesday before rallying from a school-record 22 points to win 80-78 at Fresno State on Saturday. Hall averaged 18.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in the wins, shooting 65.0 percent (13-20) from the floor, 55.6 percent (5-9) from deep and 100.0 percent (5-5) from the line. He had 16 points against the Falcons before scoring 20 points in the win at Fresno State, including a game-sealing jumper in the final minute. It was his ninth 20-point game of the season, extending his UNM freshman record.

The Lobos (21-6, 12-4 MW) visit Nevada on Tuesday before returning home Saturday with a matchup with San Diego State. The game against the Aztecs, which will be televised on CBS, is already sold out.
