HOUSTON, Texas --- The New Mexico Lobos will take on a very large contingent of Mountain West foes at the 2026 Swimming & Diving Championships. The meet takes place at the CRWC Natatorium on the University of Houston campus.
The Lobos will have competitors in all 22 events. This is the final Swimming &Diving Championships in this iteration of the Mountain West, as Washington State, San Diego State, Fresno State, and Colorado State will all be leaving the league. UC Davis and Hawai'i will join New Mexico, Nevada, UNLV, Wyoming, San Jose State, Air Force, and Grand Canyon.
The Lobos will look to score points in the four diving events, as UNM's best seeding times are in diving. Esme Abbadi-Macintosh is the No. 4 seed in the 1-meter with a 294.98 mark. Alice English is seeded eighth, and Rithika Colvin is 20th. The 1-meter is on Wednesday.
In Thursday's 3-meter, Alice English and Reed Moyer are seeded fourth and fifth, with Abbadi-Macintosh 19th and Colvin 23rd. UNM is the fifth seed in Friday's team diving competition as well.
While UNM only has two seeds in the pool, the Lobos have experience in Houston, as UNM competed in the Phill Hansel Invitational in November. Overall, the Lobos have posted their best times this season in 18 events at the CRWC Natatorium, so UNM is hopeful for bigger and better results this weekend.
Overall, in non-relays and the 1,650 freestyle, 40 swimmers from prelims will advance to finals, with the A, B, and C finals scoring points. The A-Final will score 32-28-27-26-25-24-23-22, the B-Final will score 20-17-16-15-14-13-12-11, and the C-Final will score 9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. The D-Final and E-Finals will not score.
Diving events will have 16 advance, with eight to the consolation final (scoring identical to the B-Final in swimming) and eight to the championship final (scoring identical to the A-Final). Divers 17-24 will score the same as C-Final scores.
Relays will score first through 11th, going 64-56-54-52-50-48-46-44-40-34-32.
