ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- Head Coach Jason Eck has announced that Carson Walch, a veteran coach with extensive experience on both the collegiate and professional levels, has been named as UNM’s Passing Game Coordinator/Receivers Coach. In conjunction with the announcement, newly hired Associate Head Coach Zach Lujan will move to tight ends.

“Carson brings a wealth of knowledge, including NFL coaching experience as a receivers coach,” said Eck. “He will be a terrific addition to our staff, and I’m excited for our receivers' room.”

Walch has spent the past five seasons with the Cleveland Browns, first as the Director of Player Development and, for three seasons, as the Director of Offensive Skill Development, working with receivers, quarterbacks, running backs, and tight ends.

He has coached numerous NFL All-Pros and standouts, including Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffrey, Desean Jackson, Nelson Agholor, and Mack Hollins.

In the NFL, Walch has also had stints with the Chicago Bears in 2013-14 as assistant receivers and offensive quality control coach, and with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018 as assistant receivers coach and in 2019 as receivers coach.

Walch has Division I FBS experience with the Minnesota Gophers, serving as an offensive passing game consultant in 2015 and 2020. He started his career with Winona State and has also coached at Dakota State and St. Thomas. He also has extensive CFL experience with the Montreal Alouettes and the Edmonton Eskimos.
