ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico Track & Field concluded Day Two of the UNM Team Open with eight more personal bests and seven performances that ranked among the Top 10 in program history in their respective events Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
The Lobos return to the ABQ Convention Center to host for the third week in a row when some of the nation’s top teams come to town for the team-scoring N.M. Collegiate Classic. Women’s “A” Pole Vault

Mackenzie Hurtubise made a big leap from her 3.64m season-opening mark to win the women’s “A” Pole Vault, clearing 3.96m on her first try at the height before scratching at 4.11m – she’s just three centimeters from cracking the UNM All-Time Top 10 and four away from becoming only the 10th Lobo woman to clear four meters indoors.
Jacquelyn Gorman finished fourth with a 3.81m clearance, and improvement of two centimeters from her mark at MLK Invite last weekend. Making her collegiate debut, Russian national Sofia Kazanova cleared 3.66m before scratching out at the 3.81m mark to finish fifth.

Thompson matched his personal best set last week at the MLK Invitational with an 8.18 clocking that ranks No. 4 on the UNM all-time list, while Cavanaugh finished second in his heat and 13th overall. Thompson advanced to the final with the sixth-fastest time of prelims.

Shelby took a tenth of a second off her previous best and ran .6 seconds faster than her season-opening time last weekend as she moved up from No. 8 to No. 6 on the UNM indoor All-Time List. She also qualified for the final with the fifth-fastest time of prelims.
Men’s Unseeded 60 Meters

Both Miller and Gutierrez made their indoor 60m debuts in the unseeded sections, with Miller posting the second-fastest time of the day and Gutierrez finishing ninth.

Pineda won her heat with a new PB – an improvement of .16 seconds – to finish second overall and move into No. 9 on the UNM Indoor 60m List. She’s now recorded All-Time Top 10 performances in three different events (200m, 300m, 60m) in the first two weeks of the season. Kiess ran just shy of her season-opening time as she finished ninth overall.

Tuson improved on her season-opening time from last weekend (5:17.73 / 5:10.81 @) to finish third in her heat and 13th overall, while Belisle finished 11th in the same heat and 23rd overall.
Men’s “A” Pole Vault
4. Arian Milicija - 5.12m (16' 9½")*
5. Kyle Hatler - 4.82m (15' 9¾")

Milicija cleared a career-best 5.12m to finish fourth overall in the pole vault behind three professionals, moving up to No. 7 on the UNM Indoor list. It’s the highest pole vault clearance by a Lobo since Logan Pflibsen’s 5.25m mark at MWC Championships in 2013. Teammate Kyle Hatler finished just behind him in fifth, coming up just shy of his PB set last weekend at MLK Invite (4.95m).

5. Semaj Thompson - 8.17 / 8.19 @*

After matching his season opener and personal best in the prelims, Thompson finished fifth in the final with a hundredth of a second improvement. His 8.19 conversion remains at No. 4 on the UNM All-Time 60 Hurdles indoor list.

Shelby ran just a hundredth of a second behind her PB from prelims as she took fifth overall in the women’s 60m hurdles final.
Men’s Invitational 400 Meters
4. Kahari Wilbon - 47.26 / 47.37 @*

Wilbon ran the fastest 400m race of his career – .82 seconds faster than his previous indoor best and .21 faster than his outdoor best at sea level – to finish fourth in the invitational sections of the men’s 400m and enter the UNM All-Time Top 10 for the indoor 400m at No. 7.

In her first 400m race as a collegian, Ngom recorded her second All-Time Top 10 mark of the weekend with the fourth-fastest time of the invitational sections, crossing in 53.70 (53.81 converted).

Badrani – typically a 400 and long hurdles specialist – ran a new lifetime best in the 800 to finish fourth overall, nearly 13 seconds faster than her previous best run while at Cal State San Marcos (2:25.57 / 2:25.24 @).
