FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. --- Alice English finished 10th, and Esme Abbadi-Macintosh was 12th in the 1-meter dive on the opening day of the Lumberjack Diving Invitational. The squad will compete in the 3-meter tomorrow.
In the team event, the Lobos finished the day fourth out of eight teams.
English and Abbadi-Macintosh were sitting in 11th and 14th after prelims, with English scoring 249.50 and Abbadi-Macintosh scoring 244.53. In the final round, in which their final six dives were added to the first six, and she scored almost identically, putting up a 249.45 to move up one slot.
Abbadi-Macintosh showed slight improvement, with a 252.47 to move up two spots to 12th overall. Reed Moyer was just outside the top 18, coming in 25th with a 219.25. Rithika Colvin finished 27th, and Zoe Rinon was 32nd. Moyer was on the way to a career-best with four dives over 39.5 or better to start, but her fifth dive scored low, and while an excellent sixth dive moved her up, it wasn't quite enough to finish in the top 18 to advance to the finals.
