WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. –– The No. 17 New Mexico men’s golf team continued its first event of the spring on Tuesday with the second round of the Southwestern Invitational at North Ranch Country Club. The Lobos shot 6-over during the second round to climb one spot to eighth place at 18-over amongst an elite field that includes 11 top-60 teams.
No. 15 Pepperdine, the tournament’s host, is the only team under par through 36 holes at 16-under. USC and San Diego State are tied for second at even par, while San Diego (3-over) and Washington (6-over) round out the top five.
Emil Albers starred for the Lobos on Tuesday, shooting a 4-under 66 to climb to eighth place on the individual leaderboard at 2-under for the tournament. Thayer Plewe shot 2-over on Tuesday, while Mesa Falleur shot 3-over. Johnnie Clark was 5-over and Wyatt Provence rounded out the lineup with an 8-over second round.
The Southwestern Invitational concludes Wednesday at North Ranch Country Club.
