ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The New Mexico men’s basketball team travels to Virginia for its final non-conference road game on Wednesday night with a matchup with preseason A-10 favorite VCU. Game time at the Siegel Center in Richmond is 5:00 p.m. MT (7:00 p.m. ET) and the game will air on ESPN+ and the Lobo Radio Network.

The Lobos (7-2) enter the game on a four-game win streak, including a 98-71 win over Santa Clara on Saturday at The Pit in their last outing. UNM is one of two teams in nation to have three freshmen averaging double figure scoring, including Tomislav Buljan, the reigning Mountain West Freshman of the Week. Against the Broncos, Buljan had 16 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.

VCU is 6-3 this season and ranked No. 51 in the NET after a Friday win over Samford at the Siegel Center, where it is 4-0 this season. The Rams season has been highlighted by a third-place finish at the Battle 4 Atlantis last month in the Bahamas.

The teams have split the two previous meetings in the series. New Mexico won last year’s matchup at The Pit 78-71 as Donovan Dent scored a career-high 40 points. VCU won the first matchup in 2008-09 in the Cancun Challenge. Wednesday’s game will be the first meeting in the series in Richmond.

Although UNM has never played at VCU before, the Lobos have played three previous games in Richmond, all at the now defunct Richmond Coliseum. In 1996, New Mexico played NCAA first and second round games in Richmond, defeating Kansas State before falling to Georgetown. In 1992, the Lobos lost a NIT quarterfinal game to Virginia in the Coliseum.

The Lobos will conclude the non-conference schedule on Sunday by hosting Florida Gulf Coast. Game time is 2 p.m. and the game will air on Altitude, the Mountain West Network and the Lobo Radio Network. Tickets for the FGCU game are on sale now at GoLobos.com.
