COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico’s Tomislav Buljan was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Buljan was honored after helping the Lobos record a big win over Santa Clara on Saturday.
Buljan’s honor is his second of the season and the second overall for a Lobo. He becomes just the second Lobo to win the freshman of the week award multiple times, joining JT Toppin, who was honored eight times in 2023-24.
After missing Monday’s win over Division II New Mexico Highlands due to injury, Buljan had a dominant performance in the Lobos’ 98-71 victory over top-40 NET Santa Clara on Saturday. He had 16 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season and drew seven fouls, including helping foul out the Broncos’ top shot blocker in just 14 minutes of action.
The Lobos will conclude the non-conference schedule this week with a road trip to VCU on Wednesday before hosting Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday. Tickets for the FGCU game are on sale now at GoLobos.com.
