ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— With the Mountain West schedule already announced for the 2026 Lobo Softball season, the non-conference portion is finalized.

Highlighting the schedule is the UNM Invitational with the Lobos hosting Houston Christian, Tarleton State and UTEP the final weekend of February (Feb. 27-March 1).

UNM’s season starts out in Texas at the Getterman Classic hosted by Baylor, with the Lobos opening the season with the Bears on Feb. 6. The opening weekend, UNM will also face Mississippi State, Northwestern State and Wichita State.

Mississippi State and Northwestern State are frequent opponents on the Lobo schedule, with New Mexico scheduled to face Mississippi State two more times at the Jaguar Classic at the beginning of March, and Northwestern State again at the Mardi Gras Mambo the second weekend of February.

The Lobos travel to Louisiana for the second weekend with games against Louisiana Tech, host Southeastern Louisiana, Northwestern State, Nicholls and Sam Houston. UNM will have a midweek game at UTEP on Feb. 18 and will stay on the road for a three-game series at Abilene Christian Feb. 20-21.

Following the home tournament, UNM closes the tournament schedule in Mobile, Alabama at the South Alabama Tournament with two games against Mississippi State and Samford and a game against host South Alabama.

UNM rounds out the non-conference schedule with a home and home with New Mexico State, at New Mexico State on March 10 and at home on March 17.

Overall, the schedule features 51 games, including 20 home games, two teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season in Southeastern Louisiana and Mississippi State and six teams with over 30 wins.

Admission for all Lobo Softball games at Lobo Softball Field is free for the 2026 season.
