ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- The University of New Mexico Swimming and Diving team heads west for back-to-back meets on Friday and Saturday, taking on Nevada in Reno on Friday, and UC Davis on Saturday in California.
The dual meet with Nevada will take place at 6 pm Mountain Time, and the meet with UC Davis will be at 1 pm Mountain Time. The UC Davis meet will be a long-course meet, measured in meters.
The Lobos are returning to the pool after a month off, following the Phill Hansel Invitational. Alice English had a terrific meet, just missing a platform NCAA Zone E score, winning the B-Final. Overall, UNM saw over 30 PRs in the diving tank and the pool, and now UNM will look to see where it stands against a Nevada team that is 3-0 in dual meets, and a UC Davis team that will be joining the Mountain West next year.
The Aggies are 1-3 on the season, with their last two meets consisting only of swimming. UC Davis is in its final season as a member of the Big West in women’s swimming and diving.
The weekend meets for UNM are the final two of the calendar year. Still, they will set up UNM for a busy January that will see UNM travel to Denver, the Air Force (for a double-dual with Air Force and Colorado State), to Tulane for the Mardi Gras Invitational, and finally home for a meet with Northern Arizona.
That meet with Northern Arizona will serve as the home opener and the home finale, as it’s the only home meet of the season.
