ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- Vice President/Director of Athletics Fernando Lovo and Head Football Coach Jason Eck held a joint press conference with the media to discuss the details of Eck's new five-year contract, which was announced Sunday night.
Eck and the Lobos, which tied for first place in the Mountain West despite being picked eleventh, are awaiting the December 7 bowl announcements to see where UNM is invited. New Mexico, along with San Diego State, was not selected based on the tiebreaker among the four composite computer rankings used to determine the Mountain West title game participants.
The Lobos received 20 points in the latest Associated Press Top 25 Poll, putting UNM as the fifth team listed among "Others Receiving Votes", UNM's first poll votes in 28 years.
