TYLER, Texas --- For the second time this season, Damon Bankston, an Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Preseason Watch List candidate, has been named to the honor roll for the award's weekly honor.  Bankston was honored after breaking a unique UNM record in the 40-35 win over UNLV that clinched bowl eligibility for the Lobos.

Bankston had 197 all-purpose yards on Saturday against UNLV, but it was what the running back did as a receiver that earned him a spot on the list.  Bankston caught five passes for 122 yards, including an 84-yard touchdown.  The 122 yards receiving were the most receiving yards by a running back in school history, topping the 119 yards by Sam Scarber in 1968 against UTEP.

His 84-yard touchdown was the second-longest by a Lobo running back behind an 88-yarder by Scarber in that same UTEP game. Bankston also caught a 30-yard touchdown to open the scoring in the game.

UTSA quarterback Owen McCown was named The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week after going 31-of-33  for 370 yards and four touchdowns in UTSA’s 48-26 win over Tulane.

UNM is off this week but returns home looking for a 5-0 home start and a fourth straight win overall when the Lobos host Colorado State in the final matchup between the two teams as Mountain West opponents. That game will kick off on Saturday, November 15, at 1 p.m.
