COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- Luke Drzewiecki, who played a key role in UNM’s 40-35 win at UNLV, scoring 10 points on a perfect day kicking, has been named the Old Trapper Mountain West Player of the Week for Special Teams. The honor comes during what should be a record-breaking November for the former walk-on kicker who was put on scholarship after the 2025 Spring Game.

Along with Drzewiecki, other award winners were Walker Eget of San Jose State (Offense), Simeon Harris of Fresno State (Defense), and Steven Chavez-Soto of San Jose State (Freshman).

Drzewiecki hit a pair of field goals sandwiched around halftime and hit all four of his extra points, scoring a career-high tying 10 points on the day. The senior kicker improved to 10-for-11 on the season on field goals and 30-for-30 on extra points.

His 46-yard field goal to end the half was a season-long, and his second extra point of the game was the 112th of his career, breaking the UNM career record of 111 by Jason Sanders, currently the kicker for the Miami Dolphins.

His 46-yard field goal was his 42nd, putting him third on the UNM career list, and his final kick, a 40-yard field goal, gave him 243 career points. That puts him third on the all-time list, and just two points away from moving into second place and becoming the all-time leading scorer among kickers in Lobo history.

With UNM now bowl eligible, Drzewiecki has at a minimum four games remaining in his Lobo career. UNM is off this week but returns home looking for a 5-0 home start and a fourth straight win overall when the Lobos host Colorado State in the final matchup between the two teams as Mountain West opponents. That game will kick off on Saturday, November 15, at 1 p.m.
